After Mr. Pierce earned his Bachelor of Business degree from Loyola University he knew he wanted to practice law, although what area of law was still uncertain. What he did know, however, was that he enjoyed the study of law. In fact, at one point he even thought about teaching, but that soon passed after 1962 when he received his law degree from Loyola Law School and joined the firm of George Reese and Irvin Dymond. Eventually he and Reese went on their own to practice general and maritime personal injury. Later he joined forces with Donald Organ where he did plaintiff as well as defense work representing insurance companies. Mr. Pierce is also a trained mediator.
Gary Bizal was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In 1976 he graduated from Penn State University with a political science degree. Prior to entering law school he worked numerous jobs including sandblasting, general construction and later for The Lancaster Newspaper Company. During those three years between college and law school he and several friends opened a boxing gym in Lancaster where he boxed golden gloves. In 1979 Mr. Bizal entered Loyola University School of Law. During his senior year in the Loyola Law Clinic he tried several jury trials in Orleans Criminal District Court. His law clinic experience even included a civil trial in federal court.
Following his graduation from Loyola in 1982 he was hired by a small firm primarily involved in criminal defense work. He was also working at the Orleans Parish Prison advising inmates of their civil rights. By 1985 Mr. Bizal opened his own law firm and handled any type of criminal case as well as civil cases involving claims against law enforcement for excessive force and claims against insurance companies for personal injuries.
At that time he met Don Pierce who had an enviable reputation in general personal and maritime injury. Mr. Bizal had tried numerous cases in both state and federal court and his federal court experience included litigation in Louisiana, Alabama, California and New York. Together they hoped their talents would make the name Pierce & Bizal synonymous with integrity, resourcefulness and caring. For 22 years that is exactly what they have accomplished.
